Immigration Activist Killed by Federal Agent in Minneapolis
Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three, was shot and killed by a federal agent after she reportedly swerved her car toward them. She was known as an immigration activist based in Minneapolis and was associated with ICE Watch, as stated by federal officials.
Good’s death occurred on Wednesday, with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) asserting that she was acting in “self-defense” when she directed her car toward an agent.
According to Homeland Security, ICE Watch is a group that focuses on monitoring and opposing federal immigration enforcement in various sanctuary cities across the U.S. They often describe themselves as “legal watchdogs,” although officials claim they attempt to disrupt federal operations.
Prior to the incident, Good had followed federal ICE agents to different locations and had blocked roads to hinder enforcement activities, according to DHS.
Currently, federal authorities are investigating the group’s training and funding sources.
Video footage circulating online shows an ICE officer approaching Good’s parked SUV and trying to open the driver’s side door. The vehicle then speeds away, prompting another officer in front of it to fire multiple shots at close range.
ICE Watch-affiliated groups have been involved in various confrontations with federal agents, including cases where individuals used vehicles to obstruct or attack police officers.
