Rep. Jasmine Crockett Defends Biden’s Mental State

In a recent podcast interview, Rep. Jasmine Crockett expressed her support for former President Joe Biden, claiming that his recognition among the public is “the best” when compared to President Trump.

Addressing concerns regarding Biden’s cognitive decline, as noted in the new book “Original Sin,” Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, stated that she hasn’t observed anything that would make her question Biden’s capabilities.

“Even if you want to argue that Joe Biden has some mental deficiencies, they’re still a thousand times better than what we currently have,” she asserted during her appearance on Katy Courick’s “Next Questions” podcast.

“We hope that ultimately, this nation evaluates its leaders with the same criteria,” she added.

Concerns surrounding Biden’s cognitive abilities intensified following his debate performance against Trump nearly a year ago, which led to a fallout among Democrats that culminated when Biden suspended his campaign last July.

The events surrounding his campaign struggles have fueled introspection for Biden, particularly after he revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis last month. These topics were revisited in the controversial book by Axios reporter Alex Thompson and CNN anchor Jake Tupper.

On Wednesday, the GOP-led Senate Judiciary Committee examined Biden’s use of an autopen and raised questions about his cognitive state, mirroring a similar inquiry being conducted by the House Oversight Committee.

Crockett had previously stood by Biden during a Democratic upheaval last summer, drawing parallels between his condition and that of her grandmother. Despite her grandmother aging and slowing down, she maintained that “mentally she was still there.”

“We all slow down, but I think it’s a stretch to label Joe Biden as broken,” she remarked.

“Even if someone claims Biden is mentally lacking, when compared to Trump, he certainly possesses a level of mental clarity, especially given the quality of his advisors.”

Crockett also shared her experiences with Biden, asserting that he hadn’t shown significant decline while in office.

“The average person doesn’t get the same access to the president as a member of Congress does,” she explained.

“While it’s true I wasn’t with Biden every day, I can draw on my experiences with my grandparents to describe him; he has that kind of warmth and wisdom.”
