“After this series of questions, it is very clear that these policies you are all involved in are active and lively and are violating well in your city.
“You're all talking about the broken immigration system, and here you're supporting and leaning in the entire process,” she continued. “I don't think you are bad people, but I think you are ideologically misunderstood, so unfortunately based on your answer, I will introduce you to the Department of Justice criminally for investigation. [Attorney General] Pam Bondy. ”
“If you continue doing what you're doing, you won't help anyone,” she said.
Luna spoke at a House Oversight Committee hearing, including Boston Mayor Michelle Wu (D-Mass.), New York City Mayor Eric Adams (DN.Y.), Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D-Ill.), and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston (D-Colo.). All four cities are considered sanctuary cities.
Luna's move comes as the Trump administration repeatedly said that if they don't adhere to stricter immigration policies, they'll chase “sanctuary cities.”
Meanwhile, Bondi has already sued Chicago city, claiming it has blocked the federal government from enforcing stricter immigration policies. Additionally, Bondi issued a memo in February that Sanctuary Cities could not access federal funds from the DOJ.
