Rep. Paul Gosar Calls for Closure of Fauci’s Rocky Mountain Lab

Rep. Gosar Calls for Shutdown of Fauci’s Research Institute

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) is urging Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and NIH Director Jayanta Bhattacharya to close down the Rocky Mountain Research Institute run by former NIAID Director Anthony Fauci. This follows revelations by the White Coat Waste Project (WCW) about alarming issues like virus smuggling and monkey bites.

In May, WCW revealed a whistleblower letter that claimed the institute was trying to cover up serious allegations, which ultimately led to the indictment of Vincent Munster, the former head of the virus ecology division, alongside his associate Claude Kwe. They were charged with smuggling vials of the inactivated mpox virus into the U.S.

The whistleblower’s report also mentioned that monkey bites had put laboratory staff at risk of contracting Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, first brought to light by WCW back in January. The NIH had conducted maximum suffering experiments involving a deadly foreign virus on monkeys.

Gosar has now called for the permanent closure of the controversial institute. In his letter, he referenced earlier communications about dangerous bat virus research at the NIH’s Rocky Mountain Laboratory in Hamilton, Montana. He expressed concern over the DOJ’s alarming findings and past cover-ups related to human rights violations tied to Fauci’s research.

“While Fauci is no longer at the NIH, his legacy continues to raise concerns,” Gosar noted. He emphasized that the Justice Department’s claims against Munster and Kwe suggest the NIH was aware of the smuggling long before any investigations started, allegedly attempting to hide this information. He recounted incidents where staff were exposed to viruses, including Ebola, due to monkey bites, which have seemingly been concealed.

He reminded everyone that he had issued warnings about Ebola and the institute earlier this year. Gosar stated that the lab breeds and conducts experiments on bats carrying zoonotic viruses, including SARS and Ebola, and that Munster’s and Kwe’s research focused on how monkeypox “crossed the species barrier.” He concluded that the actions of individuals connected to Fauci indicate a troubling pattern of scientists misusing taxpayer funds for harmful animal experiments.

Gosar declared, “Americans are fed up with the secrecy and reckless animal testing associated with Fauci. If the federal government can’t manage the world’s most lethal viruses safely, then there’s simply no justification for conducting this research.” He called for immediate action to halt the institute’s experiments, investigate the underlying issues, and hold responsible parties accountable.

Justin Goodman, Executive Vice President of WCW, commended Gosar for addressing the troubling practices at the lab, which they refer to as “Wuhan West.” He emphasized that the lab’s animal experiments have created the potential for catastrophic incidents like the one involving the Ebola-like virus and the smuggling charges against Munster.

Gosar’s earlier efforts included pushing for an end to NIH funding for inhumane experiments on animals, highlighting that Fauci had personally sanctioned such practices, including infamous cases involving beagle puppies and infectious cat experiments.

The call to action echoes a growing sentiment among lawmakers to curb waste and ensure humane treatment in research practices.
