Rep Thomas Massie makes light of criticisms from President Donald Trump

Massie Responds to Trump’s “Rand Paul Jr.” Comments

Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) seems to be taking a light-hearted approach to President Donald Trump’s recent nickname for him, “Rand Paul Jr.” In a recent social media post, Massie humorously clarified: “In case you’re wondering after seeing 5 posts in 10 days…I don’t pay rent to live there.” He shared screenshots of Trump’s multiple references to him in this context.

Adding a playful touch, Massie remarked, “His name is Ron Paul Jr., by the way – they confused Rand and me at the hospital,” accompanied by a tears of joy emoji.

Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who is the son of former Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas), has voiced his support for Massie’s re-election efforts. Massie’s joke came just hours after Trump had reposted critical comments targeting both him and Paul—this was not the first time Trump had taken aim at these two congress members.

In one of his posts, Trump mentioned, “What happened to ‘Senator’ Rand Paul? He was never great, but he got really bad! I got him elected twice in Kentucky and he never votes positively Republican.” He went on to describe Massie as “a nasty coward,” labeling him alongside Paul as someone who doesn’t support the Republican agenda.

Massie, who has been part of the House of Representatives since late 2012, faces a primary challenge from Ed Galine, whom Trump has endorsed. It’s an interesting dynamic—there seems to be some tension within the party as it grapples with its identity.
