“I got in the truck and drove off. As I was driving the 710, I started to feel a little sick,” Tekun told CBS. “I started sweating profusely and almost passed out.”

Then I noticed that blood was flowing from the cuts on my upper body.

Doctors quickly determined that the man had been stabbed twice and his lung had collapsed. Amidst all the action, Tekun said he never saw any flashes of any kind of weapon while chasing the robbers. As a result, Tekun spent three days in the hospital.

Tekun said he would be happy to do it again, the newspaper said.

“As I said earlier, I would do it for anyone,” he stressed. “We are here for each other.”

Long Beach police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the robbery, but are withholding immediate charges pending Tekun’s report of the crime.
