According to a report published by daily mailis a well-known smuggling ring led by undocumented immigrants who began entering the country illegally in 2019 and now charges $6,000 per person to bring others into the United States.

After being released by ICE, many immigrants moved to New Jersey where they now run gangs.

The report said the ringleaders were immigrants from Guatemala and Colombia who sneaked across the Mexican border and settled in New Jersey. There, they carried out a scheme to make profits while evading the authorities.

The Jersey-based gang is believed to be responsible for a surge in under-the-radar border crossings as U.S. Border Patrol agents struggle with an overwhelming influx of asylum seekers from Mexico, the newspaper reported.

“Given the high concentration of asylum seekers, the large number of people crossing the border, and the significant increase in the amount of enforcement taking place at the southern border, perhaps there are no options. “If they had, they would be able to more easily apply for asylum and try to cross the Canadian border into the country without being inspected,” said Philip Kasinitz, a professor of immigration studies at the State University of New York Graduate Center.

moreover, daily mail Migrant smugglers are reportedly taking full advantage of the situation, offering large rewards to smuggle people from Quebec to Vermont, where surveillance is less stringent.

The smuggler’s driver, Elmer Blanc Galvez, was reportedly stopped by Border Patrol in June while carrying four illegal immigrants in Franklin, Vermont. The paper said he told authorities he was paid about $1,800 for each illegal passenger, but he was not charged.

A sign of the massive influx across the northern border is the fact that more than 10,000 immigrants were apprehended last year trying to enter the United States illegally from Canada, nearly five times the number expected in 2022. It is.

Even though federal authorities ultimately arrested two New Jersey gang leaders, John Reyna Perez, 34, and Victor López Padilla, 35, the flow of immigrants continues unabated.

If they have the funds, immigrants may also choose to travel to Mexico, which is listed by Canada as a “visa-free” country, to more easily enter the United States.
