According to the indictment, Marcy Gray allegedly taped her mother, Deborah Polhamus, to a chair and left her there for nearly 24 hours.
She is charged with exploitation and intimidation of a disabled adult or elderly person, false imprisonment, second-degree criminal damage to property and theft.
One of Polhamus' other daughters, who lives in Florida, was unable to contact her mother and sent a friend to the home, according to the incident report.
When the friend entered the home, he found Polhamus' wrists and ankles taped to a chair and freed her.
Polhamus told Fitzgerald police that Marcy became upset when she refused to accompany him to Barrow County on Nov. 3, 2023, to confront her ex-husband, Collin Gray.
When Polhamus refused to leave, Marcy taped her to a chair, stole her iPhone and then smashed a bathroom mirror and a back door to the elderly woman's home, authorities said.
“Marcy became agitated and told Deborah she was going to kill her ex-husband and wanted her to go with her,” the incident report states. “When Deborah refused to go, Marcy threw her against a wall, causing a cut on her left wrist. Marcy stated that since Deborah would not go, she was going to tie her to a chair and take her cell phone so she could not call anyone.”
If convicted, she could face up to 20 years in prison.
