REPORT: Woman Allegedly Threatened To Bomb Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ Office

Police have arrested a Fort Smith, Arkansas woman for threatening to blow up the office building of Republican Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Sebastian County Prosecutor Daniel Shue released a June 14 affidavit saying that 66-year-old Susan Scott called Sanders’ office and said she was going to build a bomb to blow up the governor’s office. according to Police arrested Scott after he continued to threaten Sanders’ life, and Scott began pulling, kicking and headbutting officers as he tried to escape arrest, the station reported, citing the affidavit. Scott pleaded not guilty to two felony charges of making threats to cause a catastrophe and second-degree assault during a court appearance on Wednesday. A Sebastian County Circuit Court judge set bail at $500,000.

Sanders is not the first public official to receive threats against his life. In January 2024, an unidentified congressman received a threatening phone call from 24-year-old Alan Poehler. Poehler was given three years probation after threatening to shoot the congressman in the head.

A Florida man was arrested in August 2023 after threatening to kill Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. The man, identified as 43-year-old Neil Brij Sidhwani, left a threatening voicemail for Roberts in July 2023 and pleaded guilty in December 2023.
