Ken Dilanian from MS Now probably didn’t expect to unintentionally support the idea of mass deportation during a segment about the recent raid on Representative Ilhan Omar’s home by Homeland Security Investigations. This discussion took place on Wednesday.
During the conversation, they reflected on the targeted operation that occurred on Monday at Omar’s Washington, D.C. residence.
‘If you looked closely at every refugee case, I think you would discover numerous instances where facts were perhaps misrepresented or not as they appeared,’ Dilanian stated.
Host Katy Tur acknowledged that there’s clearly a pattern to address but emphasized that the actual evidence is yet to be revealed. “Why that location? If it involves immigration and paperwork fraud, why target her D.C. residence?” she questioned.
Dilanian suggested that they could only speculate about the evidence available at this early stage in the investigation but then provided a rather odd defense.
“The broader concern here is that we all know if every refugee case were examined closely, there would likely be many instances where things were perhaps misrepresented,” he noted.
Clips of his remarks surfaced on social media, drawing attention to the fact that inaccuracies on asylum applications can lead to deportation.
Furthermore, Dilanian speculated that the Trump administration might be using government resources to target Omar due to her outspoken criticism of his policies. “The dilemma here is about the federal government’s resource allocation. Are they being fair or acting with vindictiveness?” he added.
“I think the core of this issue is whether this investigation is legitimate or if it’s simply targeting someone who has been criticized by right-wing conspiracies for years,” he concluded.

The congresswoman reacted to the raid on social media, stating, “This is clearly an attempt to target political opponents and misuse federal law enforcement. For the last decade, Trump has circulated unfounded attacks against me. This feels like just another level of his intimidation tactics.”
“I will not remain quiet,” she added.
In addition, Omar is reportedly under investigation concerning her financial disclosures, according to District of Columbia U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro.
