Reporter Swiftly Removes Mic After Spencer Pratt Supporters Bring Up LA's Waste Issue

Reporter Cuts Interview Short During Mayoral Coverage

An NBC reporter unexpectedly ended an interview with a supporter of Republican Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt while he was sharing his observations about the city.

During coverage of the primary election on Tuesday, Liz Kreutz from NBC spoke with a group of Pratt’s supporters regarding his chances of making it to the runoff in November. When one supporter expressed his desire to eliminate “human waste” and prevent homeless children from being on the streets, Kreutz thanked him and concluded their discussion.

After she said, “Thank you,” the supporter exclaimed that the reporter had “run away.”

The conversation then shifted to “homeless people having sex outside elementary schools” in Los Angeles, but Kreutz interjected and wrapped up the segment, stating, “We talked a lot about homelessness.”

Right after that, the man briefly took the microphone and simply said, “Thank you, ma’am.”

In a follow-up to NBC’s Harry Jackson, who was in the studio, Kreutz remarked, “Harry, they’re taking some pictures. I’m feeling pretty good here.” Jackson jokingly responded, “The margaritas are flowing.”

As of Wednesday evening, with 60% of the vote counted, Pratt was securely in second place, just four points behind incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and eight points behind Socialist Democratic Councilmember Nitya Raman, according to the Associated Press. While the AP has yet to finalize its decision, Pratt seems positioned to advance to the runoff against Bass.

Famous for his role on “The Hills,” Pratt has received endorsements from former President Donald Trump. His campaign emphasizes addressing homelessness, crime, fire preparedness, and the cost of living in Los Angeles. Notably, his home was destroyed in a fire in the Palisades back in January 2025.

During a debate earlier this month, he was the only candidate to firmly state that illegal immigrants and non-citizens should not have the right to vote in U.S. elections.
