In 2021, the Republican-led Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, via letter, denounced the State Senate Republican-led audit of the county's 2020 election results. In a letter addressed to Republican senators, the board announced it would end all cooperation with the efforts of Republican state senators, claiming that the state senators were allowing the Grand Canyon State to become a “laughing stock” while following false claims of election fraud spread by former President Trump.

“You have photographed ballots and sent the images to unidentified locations and individuals in violation of law the Senate helped enact. You have repeatedly lost control of your Twitter account, which has tweeted more like the rants of a whiny child than the serious statements of a serious audit,” the committee wrote.
