Republican AGs Seek Coordination with FBI on Anti-Semitic Domestic Terrorism

In a significant move, Republican attorneys general from at least 27 states are looking to coordinate efforts with the FBI and the Department of Justice to combat what they describe as anti-Semitic domestic terrorism. They aim to develop “game plans” to address this rising issue, especially in the aftermath of recent violent events.

A letter addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi was obtained by Fox News Digital on Tuesday. The letter, primarily authored by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, states, “We hope to meet you and discuss ways to help support the FBI’s excellent work and partner with the Department of Justice to ensure that those committing these terrible acts are held accountable.” Wilson expressed shared concerns following the devastating Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, acknowledging the troubling uptick in anti-Semitism since then.

The letter doesn’t shy away from detailing specific violent incidents. It mentions the tragic shooting of two Israeli Embassy staff members in Washington, D.C., who were killed outside a Jewish museum earlier this year. Additionally, it references a different incident where an assailant in Boulder, Colorado, allegedly shouted pro-Palestinian slogans during an attack on several individuals, including a Holocaust survivor.

Wilson’s communication also reflects a broader sentiment among attorneys general from various states—such as Alabama, Florida, and Ohio—regarding the persistence and growth of anti-Semitic sentiments in the U.S. They see recent attacks as reminders of this troubling trend. In the letter, they praise the FBI’s ongoing investigations into these incidents and call attention to rising violence on college campuses, significantly affecting Jewish students’ sense of safety.

The letter further endorses the establishment of a “Cooperative Task Force” focusing on this issue, asserting that state and federal collaboration is crucial in addressing hate-driven violence. It highlights the importance of sharing information and resources among law enforcement agencies to effectively counteract these threats.

State officials are looking to meet with federal counterparts in the weeks ahead, seeking to foster a cooperative relationship. They hope such partnerships will yield effective strategies to eliminate anti-Semitic domestic terrorism.
