The two special elections held Tuesday were decided in Republican interest by Florida voters and maintained tenuous control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The election was a district that was leaning towards two Republicans, and one of the losses would have meant a weakening of the narrow lead that Republicans are in the House.

Republicans Randy Fine and Jimmy Patronis, who hold back Josh Weill and Gay Valimont, respectively, were found to be far closer than expected. Democrats lost the opportunity to bridge the gap with Republicans in the House, but they saw the silver lining in the fact that they could cut drastically at the border of District 6.
Also on Tuesday, Wisconsin voters headed to the ballot box to vote for a seat on the state Supreme Court. The election is likely to decide whether or not the state's districts will be reorganized, and many believe President Donald Trump will be bounced each once Democrats regain control of the House for the outcome.
