Search and rescue team members are being praised for rescuing a Rottweiler and her pack of puppies from the Park Fire in Northern California.
A resident’s truck broke down in a remote area above Cohasset on Wednesday, forcing the resident to exit the vehicle along with two adult dogs and a pack of puppies, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) said. explanation in a social media post on Sunday.
The family of dogs was stranded in California by the raging Park Fire, which quickly cut off access and left them “presumed lost.” Four days later, search and rescue workers boarded a helicopter and drove a mile and a half to rescue the dogs. https://t.co/3wjZ7DNDRD

The individual provided rescue personnel with the location of the vehicle, but the fire prevented them from immediately accessing the scene. When BCSO Search and Rescue Officer Trevor Skaggs heard what was happening, he knew what to do.
Skaggs was flown to the scene in a Department of Conservation helicopter and ran 1.5 miles to find the puppies and their mother alive, though they were exhausted and thirsty.
“Unfortunately, it was determined that the puppy’s father was no longer alive,” the sheriff’s office said.
After giving the mother and puppies some water and a protein bar, Trevor was able to lead the five of them 1.5 miles to a helicopter where the puppies and mother were flown to the Chico airport and are currently being cared for by members of the North Valley Animal Rescue Group.
These past few days have been terrifying for our community, but we are grateful to be able to share this amazing story.
Video shows the dogs following Skaggs as he leads them to safety, and photos show the rescuer smiling as he holds the puppies in his arms.
“Thank you Mr Skaggs. What you did for these innocent dogs is amazing. God bless you and everyone involved in the rescue,” one social media user said. I have written Response to Law Enforcement Post:
