Rev. Franklin Graham calls out ‘Evangelicals for Harris’ for ‘trying to mislead people’ using his father in ad

Christian evangelist Franklin Graham slammed the “Pro-Harris” organization for using footage of his late father in an attack ad against former President Trump.

Graham is president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, which were founded by his father, the late Billy Graham. Billy Graham is a world-renowned evangelist and considered an icon of American culture. A statue of him was installed in the U.S. Capitol in May.

Evangelicals for Harris (formerly Evangelicals for Biden) is a project of Faith Voters, a 501(c)4 organization.

On Wednesday, the group hosted a Zoom call hosted by “reparations activist” Ekemini Uwang, who argued that “white people are evil” and that the police force “needs to be destroyed and rebuilt. It was built on the re-enslavement of black people.”

A new ad attacking President Trump by a Harris supporter group juxtaposes footage of the late Billy Graham talking about confessing sins alongside an old interview with President Trump saying at the time he wasn’t sure if he had ever asked God for forgiveness.

Franklin Graham, on X, responded by sharing a screenshot of the ad on his official Morning Joe account and condemning evangelicals for Harris’ use of his father’s image, who he claimed would support Trump if he were alive today.

“Liberals are doing everything they can to promote Candidate Harris, even creating political ads that try to use the image of my father, Billy Graham,” he said in a social media post. “They are trying to mislead people. They may not know that my father appreciated President Donald Trump’s conservative values and policies in 2016, and if he were alive today, his thinking and opinions would not have changed.”

The official Harris Evangelical account responded: “I’m praying for you” He wrote a heart emoji beneath the post, and later retweeted it, saying Graham had “abandoned the gospel.”

“Franklin, the problem is you have abandoned the gospel by worshiping Trump,” the group’s account posted. “We will vote for Harris, but we only worship Jesus. Remember the mission you have been called to, and you know His grace is always ready to receive you.”

After the president narrowly avoided an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania, Graham led a prayer thanking God for sparing Trump’s life. Graham went on to ask God, “If it is your will, I ask you to make America great again.”
