On Wednesday, MSNBC’s Ari Melber sparred with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and the independent presidential candidate said the host was increasing America’s “vitriol” by leading him to badmouth former President Trump. He claimed that
Melber said Kennedy hasn’t said whether he agrees with Trump on pardoning the Jan. 6 Capitol rioters, so he said Kennedy “actually could happen if Donald Trump wins again.” He said people were concerned that he was ignoring “democracy and authoritarian threats.”
“I think both of them have done bad things for our country,” Kennedy told host MSNBC about Trump and Biden, before going on to discuss both of his opponents, who have racked up debt during their terms as presidents.
Kennedy added: “Neither side can end the anger you are now trying to sustain.”

Melber retorted, “What did I say that was so harsh?”
Mr. Kennedy suggested that when Mr. Melber jumped in, he was being forced to choose between Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden.
“You’re running for president, it’s a big job, and you’re listening to what people are saying about it,” Melber said.
“You said I would have a say,” Kennedy replied.
“But you just suggested that I was perpetuating the vitriol, and I asked you to prove it,” Melber said, looking heated. “Did I say anything harsh today?”
President Kennedy said he believes the United States has become “more vitriolic, more polarized, more toxic” since the Civil War, all of which are amplified by social media.
“If someone doesn’t come and say, ‘I’m not going to be a part of it,’ I’m not going to be a part of that insanity, even if people do crazy things on both sides,” Kennedy said. .

Melber shot back, “But you haven’t addressed the issues I’ve raised, and you probably won’t.”
Melber then reminded MSNBC viewers of Trump’s actions surrounding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
“You’re going to make me hate President Trump,” Kennedy said, suggesting that was an example of fostering vitriol.
“We’re not talking about hatred against him, we’re talking about what happened. They stormed the Capitol and tried to overturn the certification and the results of a legitimate election,” Melber said. “And Donald Trump now comes out here and says, according to his lawyer, he has a license to kill, a license to commit a coup, and he’s going to pardon all these people… It’s vitriolic to discuss that. No, I have a clear position.”The hurdles for a peaceful transfer of power are very low. ”
Melber again said people want to know Kennedy’s position on January 6th and whether he has granted pardons to those involved.
President Trump says he will free January, if re-elected, number of rioters on first day will be 6

Former President Donald Trump has vowed that one of his first acts if re-elected will be to release those imprisoned in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. (Donald Trump 2024 Campaign)
“Look, January 6th was the worst day in our history. People committed terrible crimes, committed violence against police officers, invaded the Capitol, stormed the Capitol, and more. I condemn that because they are in prison and they should be,” Kennedy said.
“But I’m not going to campaign on the basis of inciting or amplifying people’s hatred for each other,” he added. “I think we need to start thinking about ways to find common ground.”
The two then got into another argument, with Kennedy telling the MSNBC host, “My job is to inflame it.”
“I don’t feel any inflammation at all,” Melber said.
