In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Health and Human Services (HHS) Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called for a founding media attack on him, saying, “It is always ironic that liberal media weapons wake up and cancel culture and protect the benefits of big pharma and big food.”
Kennedy responded to an unfounded onslaught after misquoting him Friday using the word “delay” to evoke the appropriate name of a New York state mental facility.
The deluge of condemnation comes after reports of the secretary's remarks at the Food and Drug Administration staff gathering at the agency's headquarters in White Oak, Maryland.
Media people Spinning his appearance with the headline: “In an indifferent meeting with RFK Jr., he called Special Olympics athletes “delayed”.”
Daily Beast The headline was “Staff leave RFK Jr.'s slureid speech on deep condition.”
Kennedy told Breitbart News another demonstration of axioms up to 17th-century satirist Jonathan Swift was “false fly, and the truth sets foot afterwards.”
The false feature of Kennedy's statement came from the 33-minute mark of his 40-minute speech. There, he explained his passion for solving autism and other mental health issues. There, according to the official speech transcript, Kennedy said:
Due to my family's commitment to these issues, I spent 200 hours at Wassack's house for those who were late when I was in high school. So I've always looked at people with intellectual disabilities. I've never seen anyone with autism. We are proud at the Special Olympics that you know, we can take care of all our children no matter what.
The HHS secretary said Politico reporters first wrote that he mischaracterized his statements and used lightly par terms for people with mental disabilities. An earlier version of the story was revised after Kennedy staff repeatedly complained to the editors. However, using an anonymous source, Politics Still reporting:
“The remarks shook several FDA employees in the audience. They misunderstood the reference and thought he was making minor remarks about people with intellectual disabilities, according to two employees who misunderstood the reference and gave them anonymity for fear of retaliation. By the end of the event, they had been billed as a welcome from new commissioner Marty McCurry.
In fact, Kennedy has spoken over the years about the New York State facility in Wassaik, which has been left under several names over decades, including the “Wassack State School for Mental Retards.” It was founded in 1931. Other historical names can be considered as outdated, such as “children of weak hearts” schools and “schools for the mentally disabled.”
In 1973, the New York Times called it “a late school” in its headline.
“I was referring to the agency,” Kennedy told Breitbart News. “They turned it into a mean slur from a vulnerable group that my family has defended generations.”
The HHS secretary definitely mentioned his aunt, Eunice Kennedy SchreiberHe was the founder of the 1968 Special Olympics. His uncle President John F. Kennedy He also promoted research into intellectual disability, including the establishment of a “President's Panel on Mental Retardation.” The word “delay” ultimately fell from favor as a medical term.
Meanwhile, Politico revealed reports of RFK Jr.'s remarks on Friday afternoon. I'll post it on x:
“For the record: This article and headline have been updated to reveal that Kennedy is referring to Wasai's state schools for mentally retarded individuals who worked in high school, without using mildly rogative terms for people with intellectual disabilities.”
But by then, reports from context had been flying through dealing with Copycat headings, tweets and comments under the stories featured on the news website under Copycat headings, tweets and comments.
More generally, this false attack on Kennedy arises in the use of the word “delay” and the broader debate about whether it should be accepted. Kennedy's use of the word does not seem to fit that argument, but he literally used the appropriate names of major institutions. Logan called for a new acceptance of the term culturally with its framing as a cultural victory over cancel culture.
Even with that clarification, such as Politico's story, painted a negative picture of the Kennedy FDA's appearance. That Friday story also hinted at how Kennedy humiliated the audience by telling FDA employees that they were industry “sock puppets” and that he was a conspiracy theorist who said “deep state is real.”
According to the official transcript of the speech, Kennedy mentioned the vast impact of food and drugs he had on the FDA and the revolving doors of directors who came from those industries and returned.
Kennedy told attendees: “It (FDA) was made from the most ideal impulse, but like all institutions, it became an industry sock doll that was captured by the industry and was actually supposed to regulate at some point.”
Kennedy laughed when Breitbart News asked him about his emotional response to the report. He had to develop thick skin. “It's not the first time,” he told Breitbart News.
Kennedy first ran as presidential independence last year and has long been attacked by founding media, even before he abandoned the Democrats to support the current President Donald Trump.
Slowly portrayed as “anti-vaxel” for many years, Kennedy continues to insist that he is not opposed to the shots, but that he hopes to study more thoroughly, because of a “safe vaccine.”
Since 2019 speech At a gathering in Washington, he was called an anti-Semite. Because he said the state's surveillance capabilities with modern technology are far stronger than the secret annex Anne had hidden from the Nazis.
When he suggested that the COVID virus has hatched from Uhan's lab, Scientific American He labeled Kennedy an anti-Asian racist and a “known conspiracy theorist.”
Legacy Media He took him on a mission that claimed that scientific papers showed that Covid-19 was disproportionately attacking certain races. Kennedy later had to refute reports that he hatched the creature plot, and he never hinted at anything designed for the target group.
Other light parraging stories of 2024 It has been reported Kennedy went to search for a future job with the Kamala Harris administration, and was rejected and settled on Donald Trump. Kennedy says it's not about work, which pays far less than what he made as an environmental lawyer, but who would promise to bring the US back to health.
The other versions are nothing more than true. Ironically, for many years he was a harsh critic of Donald Trump.
“I prayed for 19 years every morning,” he said in several settings. “I've been out of bed and praying every day that God puts me in a position to end the chronic disease epidemic and helps my children recover health, and God sent me Donald Trump.”

In a conversation with Breitbart News, Kennedy added that he did not mention the National Association of Colored People (NAACP) or the United Negro College Fund in his speech to the FDA about his “lucky.” “The rage of the media would have been predictable,” he said.
