Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has asked the U.S. Supreme Court for emergency intervention to put his name back on New York state's presidential ballot.

A lower court ruled that the former independent candidate had falsely claimed to reside in New York state because his Katonah, New York, address was not his fixed, permanent residence, and removed him from the ballot.
RFK Jr. currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, best known for her role in the TV show “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” He has been living there since 2014.
On September 18, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court decision disqualifying the independent candidates.Number.
Kennedy said in court filings that he had rented rooms at his childhood friend's home on multiple occasions and even stayed there once. His lawyers stressed that the lower court “did not find that anyone was mistaken about that information.”
In his emergency appeal to the Supreme Court, Kennedy argued that his supporters in the state “have a constitutional right to place him on the ballot and to vote for him, regardless of whether he is campaigning for their vote.”
“The address provided on Mr. Kennedy's petition was, and remains, completely irrelevant to his constituents or to the city of New York,” his lawyers wrote in the petition.
The request was submitted by Kennedy's campaign and American Values 2024, a super PAC that supports Kennedy and his political efforts.
Meanwhile, the emergency request was sent to Judge Sonia Sotomayor, who oversees the emergency appeals hearing in New York, which resulted in her asking New York Attorney General Letitia James (NYD) and parties in the case to respond in writing by Wednesday afternoon.
Since suspending his campaign and endorsing former President Donald Trump, Kennedy has sought to remove his name from key battleground states while leaving it on the ballot in others, a move that has led to a series of lawsuits, with the New York fight being the first involving Kennedy to reach the Supreme Court.
Former independent candidate Kennedy recently urged his supporters to vote for Donald Trump in the next election, in an apparent attempt to take votes away from Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in New York, a blue state historically dominated by Democrats and majority Democrat voters, with the exception of Rudy Giuliani, who served as New York City mayor from 1994 to 2001.
Recently, the Supreme Court also rejected a challenge to put Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein on the Nevada ballot.
