Kennedy Jr. Criticizes Fauci on Gain-of-Function Research
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has expressed strong allegations against former National Director of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, concerning gain-of-function research.
In a recent interview on Fox News with Laura Ingraham, Kennedy claimed that Fauci knowingly violated a ban on certain biological research and is attempting to conceal his actions.
“There’s really no other way to see this; Kennedy is accusing Fauci of a crime against humanity,” he asserted.
On the following Monday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at restricting funding for overseas gain-of-function research.
According to the White House, “These measures will significantly reduce the likelihood of lab-related incidents, including gain-of-function research, which took place with the Chinese bat coronavirus by the EcoHealth Alliance and the Wuhan Institute.”
During his interview with Ingraham, Kennedy discussed the administration’s latest steps to safeguard Americans from hazardous research while connecting the dots regarding Fauci’s involvement.
“Gain-of-function research is essentially a science focused on making microorganisms and pathogens more lethal and contagious,” Kennedy emphasized.
He elaborated that the U.S. military and intelligence agencies began this kind of research back in 1947 to develop biological weapons. However, after President Richard Nixon banned such research in 1969, it remained off-limits—even for terrorist threats—until 2001.
“Post the anthrax attacks, Fauci essentially resumed this arms race under the pretense of vaccine development, using the same techniques used in biological weapons,” Kennedy told Ingraham.
Things took a turn in 2014 when various pathogens connected to Fauci reportedly escaped, leading to hundreds of scientists urging President Barack Obama to halt such research.
“Obama called for a moratorium, but Fauci continued his experiments regardless. Now, major institutions—like the CIA and FBI—are asserting their involvement,” Kennedy claimed.
“So, President Trump has taken actionable steps this week to cease this type of research domestically and to restrict its funding abroad,” Kennedy noted.
Steve Deace, host and columnist, responded to Kennedy’s accusations, suggesting a referral to the Department of Justice.
“There’s really no other way to interpret this; Kennedy is directly accusing Fauci of a crime against humanity. Shouldn’t the DOJ be involved?” he posted.
Before leaving office, President Biden had issued a sweeping pardon for any crimes committed by Fauci since January 2014.
Fauci resigned from his role as head of NIAID in 2022 and is now positioned as a “distinguished university professor” at Georgetown University’s School of Medicine.
Neither Fauci nor Georgetown University has responded to requests for comment regarding these claims.
