RFK Jr.’s sister worries he’s taking votes from Biden: ‘There’s so much at stake’

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s sister fears her brother will act as an election saboteur and steal votes from President Biden as he runs his own campaign.

When asked by CNN’s Erin Burnett why she thought it would be “dangerous” to vote for her brother, Rory Kennedy said she believed her campaign was “siphoning” votes away from Biden. He said that Mr. Kennedy launched his own bid for the White House last fall after failing to gain traction on the Democratic ticket.

“I feel very strongly that this is the most important election of our lifetimes. There are so many things at stake and I think it will ultimately be decided by a small number of votes and a small number of states,” she said. said. CNN on Monday.

“And I’m worried that just a few percentage points of votes taken away by Bobby from Biden could change the election and lead to Trump winning,” she added.

In a three-way race between Biden, former President Trump and Kennedy, Trump has a narrow lead over Biden, according to average Hill/Decision Desk polls. The average approval rating is 40.5% for Trump, 38.6% for Biden, and 9.8% for Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy has often been at odds with his family over his bid for the White House. His family has condemned his decision to run as an independent in October and has often been outspoken about his candidacy.

“Bobby may have the same name as our father, but he does not share the same values, vision or judgment. Today’s announcement is very sad for us. “We condemn the candidacy of Kennedy and believe it is a danger to our country,” a statement signed by four of Kennedy’s brothers said last year.

Biden hosted 30 members of the Kennedy family at the White House for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration earlier this month, but the independent presidential candidate was conspicuously absent. President Kennedy said at the time that only “a small portion” of his family attended the rally.

Kennedy’s family also criticized an ad run by a super PAC supporting Kennedy’s solo candidacy during last month’s Super Bowl, prompting Kennedy to apologize for the ad.

The Hill has reached out to Kennedy’s campaign for comment.
