Robert Griffin III’s Nostalgic Post

Robert Griffin III has embraced a social media trend, with his wife joining in as well.

In a recent Instagram reel, Griffin donned an old Washington Redskins uniform and humorously wrote, “Preparing for a Netflix documentary about why they kept me running even though I only had one against Seattle in 2012.”

The post sparked numerous comments, with his wife, Grete, expressing her support in the thread.

“I have personal relationships with everyone involved, but I didn’t even know you at the time,” she commented.

This reflection comes on the heels of Griffin’s early retirement from the NFL, which some attributed to the team’s mishandling of his injuries.

The quarterback was chosen as the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Redskins, quickly making his mark on the field. He secured the starting position and had a remarkable rookie season, setting records for passer rating and touchdown-to-interception ratio. By the end of that season, he had amassed 3,200 yards, thrown 20 touchdowns, and only five interceptions, leading Washington to a district championship and playoff return—a feat that earned him a Pro Bowl nomination and the title of Offensive Rookie of the Year.

However, his promising career began to wane towards the end of that inaugural season.

In December 2012, Griffin sustained a grade 1 LCL sprain. Following a week out, he returned for a playoff match against Seattle but, according to reports, did so without medical clearance contrary to head coach Mike Shanahan’s statements.

This decision exacerbated his injury, ultimately requiring surgery on both his LCL and ACL.

Following that incident, Griffin struggled to regain his previous form and retired in 2020.

Grete and Griffin became engaged in 2017, and while she was not present during his Washington ordeal, she is clearly upset about it.

The couple tied the knot in March 2018 and share three daughters: Gloria, Gameya, and Gia, alongside Griffin’s eldest daughter, Lise-Anne, from a prior marriage.
