Rich Paul, LeBron James' agent, minimizes recent report about Jeanie Buss

Rich Paul expressed on Wednesday that he’s not worried about recent speculation suggesting that Jeanie Buss, the longtime owner of the Lakers, may not be as supportive of LeBron James as she once was.

During an appearance on “Game Over with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul,” he played down an ESPN report claiming the 64-year-old Buss has concerns regarding James and what some describe as his “huge ego.”

Paul responded to the report by saying, “Who cares? … I saw some of the stuff that came out, and obviously they were discussing various scenarios related to the influence we hold.”

He continued, “There are articles being written every day. Who gives a… I don’t.”

According to ESPN sources, Buss allegedly voiced complaints about the control that James, Paul, and their agency have over the Lakers. The report also indicated that Buss feels James hasn’t faced sufficient accountability, particularly regarding a missed opportunity to trade for Russell Westbrook before the 2021-22 season.

Additionally, Buss is reportedly unhappy with James’ reaction to the Lakers drafting his son Bronny with a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Despite these claims, Paul remained dismissive during his chat with Kellerman. He mentioned that clickbait articles often circulate, saying, “People try to buy into that.” He emphasized how unimportant it is to get caught up in such distractions.

Paul’s take was clear: “You have to try not to worry about this kind of thing. I am like, whatever.”

Since joining the Lakers as a free agent in 2018, James has led the team to a championship in the 2020 season, and Paul pointed out that, ultimately, that achievement is what matters.

“You won,” he concluded. “So there’s nothing to talk about there.”
