Richard Simmons’ wish to deliver a final message to his fans has been respected by the team.
On social media, Simmons’ team explained, “Richard worked really hard on this post for you all. He had loads of ideas and worked on them ahead of time, going back and revising each piece before publishing until it was exactly how he wanted it.”
“You see, at the weekend he just shares photos with captions. He always has a photo selected for the upcoming weekend and a caption written by Friday,” they continued. “So here is a post that Richard was planning to share with you all last Sunday and thought you might like to see.”
And they proposed the post that Simmons was scheduled to take last Sunday, July 14th.

The post featured a photo of the late, grey-haired fitness icon dressed in a bright orange NASA spacesuit costume.
The caption for the photo read, “I want to take you to the moon and back to stargazing. Love, Richard.”
Simmons was buried in a private funeral in Los Angeles on Friday.
Simmons’ longtime publicist, Tom Esty, released a statement to Fox News Digital on behalf of Simmons’ brother, Lenny Simmons.

“Our beloved Dickie passed away in his sleep this morning surrounded by only family and close friends. We ask for your continued love and support during this extremely difficult time,” the statement said.
Mr. Simmons died at his home on Saturday, July 13th, one day after his 76th birthday.
“Officers are investigating a fatal shooting,” the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital. “No foul play has been found.”

An official statement on his cause of death has been postponed, pending investigation and further testing before a definitive explanation can be given for the cause of death.
Simmons disappeared from public view a decade ago but continued to share regular posts on social media.
In an interview with People magazine shortly before his death, he said he was “grateful” to “live another day” after being diagnosed with skin cancer in March.
