Rihanna Returns to the Met Gala with a Stunning Comeback

Rihanna marked her much-anticipated return to the 2026 Met Gala on Monday night, bringing fans to their feet with her remarkable presence. The Grammy-winning artist, who is a mother of three, made a bold entrance, leaving the Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side, dressed in a striking metallic outfit as she headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring 2026 Costume Art exhibition.

She wore an elaborate creation by Maison Margiela, designed by Glenn Martens, along with an art deco-style headpiece. Posing for photos on the iconic staircase, she was accompanied by her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky.

A$AP Rocky, who co-hosted the previous year’s gala, was seen in a custom pink Chanel blazer designed by Matthew Blasey. It featured satin lapels, black piping, and decorative black silk camellias, giving off a distinctly stylish vibe. Completing his outfit, the New Yorker chose black pants paired with a white cotton shirt. Reportedly, the design process took a staggering 194 hours, as noted by Vogue.

Though Rihanna missed the 2025 gala, she made headlines the year before by announcing her pregnancy with her daughter just moments before the red carpet event. Additionally, she couldn’t attend the Costume Institute’s 2024 exhibition, “Sleeping Beauty: Fashion’s Awakening,” due to illness.

Interestingly, during that time, some misleading AI-generated images circulated online, falsely claiming to show Rihanna at a glamorous event, misleading many unsuspecting viewers.

Her last appearance at the Met Gala before this year was three years ago when she graced the event in a stunning Chanel-inspired Valentino gown, embellished with camellias. At that time, she proudly showcased her baby bump, as her gown’s train flowed down the museum’s stairs, marking another unforgettable moment in Met Gala history.

Rihanna’s influence at the Met Gala is undeniable; her dazzling fashion choices often leave an impression on all attendees, even surprising figures like NBA star Carmelo Anthony. One of her most iconic looks was a fur-trimmed imperial yellow cape from the 2015 gala, which continues to be remembered for the buzz it created. Lee, reflecting on past styles, mentioned having “no regrets” about the bold fashion choices made a decade ago.
