Josh Bishop has emerged as one of Major League Wrestling’s most compelling wrestlers this year, earning another shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. He’ll face Killer Kross in a Last Man Standing match at Saturday Night SuperFight.
Bishop has brought a menacing presence to the ring, and MLW owner Court Bauer says that quality has helped him stand out during nearly 11 months with the promotion. Bauer described Bishop as a breakout performer with a destructive style, noting that fans can be drawn to established names but also enjoy seeing new talent make its mark.
Bishop has already shown he can go toe-to-toe with Kross. He came up short in an earlier championship challenge, but later pinned Kross in a tag team match. The two have also had a hard-fought encounter in Chattanooga, Tennessee, while Bishop previously threw Kross around during a match in New York City.
Those performances, Bauer said, helped Bishop earn the main-event opportunity. Rather than giving someone a spot simply because it fits a planned storyline, Bauer said MLW looks at how wrestlers perform and how the crowd responds. In his view, Bishop has done enough to deserve the chance.
Saturday Night SuperFight begins at 8 p.m. ET and will stream live on Veeps.
