On Wednesday morning, witnesses reported seeing several hazardous materials trucks outside a building near the Capitol around 8 a.m.

The material has reportedly been removed but the area around the building remains sealed off, resulting in nearby roads being closed to traffic.

The Capitol South subway station was also damaged, according to Metro Transit Police.

A complete lifting of the lockdown was announced just after 9 a.m. local time. According to police officials, a suspicious package was found containing two blood bottles, a Korean Bible, and two ice packs. CNN I quote.

The building was scheduled to host a meeting of House Republicans when the lockdown notice was issued. It’s unclear if the deputies were there when the incident was reported.

It is not clear who was in police custody in connection with the incident.
