RNC Will Take Place 2 Blocks from Site of Attempted Teddy Roosevelt Assassination

The Republican National Convention (RNC) will be held in Milwaukee next week, two blocks from where President Teddy Roosevelt survived an assassination attempt in 1912.

Roosevelt, a former Republican president then campaigning on the ticket of the “Progressive” Bull Moose Party, was shot by saloon owner John F. Schrank outside the Gilpatrick Hotel, now the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

There was no political motivation: Schrank was mentally unstable.

Roosevelt’s life was saved when the bullet was stopped by papers he had in his breast pocket, but he insisted on finishing his speech before receiving medical attention.

The convention begins just two days after former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, with only a bullet grazing his right ear.

Breitbart News spoke with Republican representatives at the hotel, who suggested Democrats’ rhetoric created an environment conducive to Saturday’s assassination attempt, which claimed the life of one rally attendee.

The president is said to be safe and convention events are expected to go ahead as scheduled, although security will likely be stepped up.
