Low carb and so much fun.
Rob Lowe has to be one of the fittest guys in Hollywood turning 60 (next month), healthy enough that it’s almost frustrating, and you probably want to put socks on him. Maybe, but your fist will probably just boomerang back and you’ll be on your own. You end up punching yourself in the face. (Sorry, is this on?)
In a new interview with eat wellthe “Parks & Recreation” actor, 59 – who is also a longtime Atkins spokesperson – revealed just a little. Stars, they’re just like us His weekday lunches include visits to not one but two of the West Coast’s favorite fast food joints, while (of course!) consuming most of the carbs that trip up the average diner. I quite frankly admit that I haven’t.
“I’m a creature of habit. I have a cycle of meals that I love. Today I had tostada salad and grilled chicken, which I always eat once a week. El Pollo Loco’s delicious seasoned chicken and A little coleslaw, maybe a side of beans, that’s one thing,” said the former ’80s enthusiast.
But apparently that’s not all Locopolobeats even the best supermarket rotisserie chicken by a mile.
“I’ll have a chicken kebab with a little hummus and a Greek salad. And then I’ll make a lightly breaded chicken parm and a miso salad, which are all very good lunches, by the way. And I’ll have a protein-style In-N. I’ve been known to do -Out burgers and drink sparkling water or water with lemon. It’s that simple.”
Lowe isn’t the only celebrity to eat In-N-Out burgers alongside other Southern Californians.
Everyone from Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have fallen under the chains’ spell. At least one of his locations in the heart of Los Angeles features a slew of big-name stars patronizing them after big awards nights.
Lowe went on to identify a wide range of approaches to staying healthy as you age.
“I think it’s two things: body and mind. What’s important for the body is a sustainable, consistent regimen. It’s not a specific diet, it’s a way of life,” he said.
“I also work out a lot, but it’s more to set my mood than anything else. It really helps my head and thought process, and it’s usually outdoors. Even if I live in a place where the weather isn’t great… However, I think it’s very, very important to go outside.
“And the sleep is great. I sleep well and I’m very lucky to get a lot of sleep.”
“And that spirit, which I think is actually even more important than the physical component, is maintaining a natural curiosity about life.
“They still have great stories in their lives because they are still curious, interested, open to new things, and actively seek out new things and memories.
“I think when you put those two together, it’s a really great recipe for anyone, and it definitely was for me,” he said.
