Romy and Jake Reiner Adjust to Life After Parents’ Tragedy

Romy and Jake Reiner are gradually returning to everyday life following the tragic murder of their parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner.

Recent photos show Romy visiting a dog groomer and CVS on February 19th, accompanied by her puppy. Dressed casually in a hoodie, brown sweatpants, and boots, she seemed to be in good spirits during her outing near their Malibu home.

On February 20th, Jake was photographed heading to his baseball coach. He wore sunglasses and a hat, carrying a baseball bat as he made his way to practice for his team in Los Angeles. The following day, he was out running errands in the city with his girlfriend, Maria Gilfillan, again sporting a casual look with a blue hoodie and matching shorts.

It’s noteworthy that this was the first time Romy, 28, and Jake, 34, had been spotted in public since late December. Back then, they were seen walking on the beach in Malibu, just weeks after their parents were found stabbed to death on December 14, 2025.

As they attempt to settle into a normal routine, their brother Nick’s arraignment is scheduled for February 23rd. Nick, 32, has been formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder and, notably, opted to waive his right to a faster arraignment following the incident.

At a hearing on January 7th, Nick’s attorney withdrew from the case, leading to the assignment of a public defender. While Nick was present in court looking noticeably affected, Romy and Jake chose not to attend either hearing, expressing their confidence in the legal process through a statement.

Their lives were thrust into chaos after Rob and Michelle were discovered in their Brentwood home. Romy, who lived close by, found them after they had missed an appointment. Disturbingly, Nick, who reportedly struggles with schizophrenia, was arrested the following day near the University of Southern California.

Witnesses noted a heated argument between Rob and Nick at a Christmas party just prior to the tragedy. Reports indicate Nick left his hotel room that day covered in blood.

The Los Angeles County Coroner later confirmed that the couple had died from multiple stab wounds, resulting in a homicide ruling. If convicted, Nick could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or even the death penalty, and he is currently held without bail.
