Rob Reiner's last chat with 'Monty Python' star before passing made public

Rob Reiner’s Last Conversation Before Tragic Death

Rob Reiner spoke with comedian Eric Idle just hours before he and his wife were tragically murdered in their Los Angeles home. The 82-year-old Idle shared some details about their final chat on Monday, following the shocking news of the double homicide.

“Rob Reiner was a lovely guy. I talked to him for over an hour last night,” Idle, known for his role in ‘Monty Python,’ mentioned. He posted this sentiment on X.

“I always enjoyed being with him. I met him at his father’s house in 1975,” Idle continued. “He shared stories about the Stonehenge shooting and his thoughts about what the future might hold.”

Idle expressed his sorrow, stating, “This is really terrible. I’m going to miss him. He’s a smart, talented, very thoughtful person. It’s just so tragic.”

At the time of his death, Reiner was working on a reboot of Fawlty Towers alongside fellow Monty Python member John Cleese, with plans for both he and his wife Michelle to produce the project.

On Sunday, Rob, 78, and Michelle, 68, were discovered stabbed to death in their Brentwood home. Their daughter Romy, 28, was the one to find them.

Romy reported to the police that she believed a family member might be “suspicious” and described that relative as “dangerous.” This unsettling claim has added a layer of complexity to the investigation.

Her brother Nick, 32, who has struggled with addiction and homelessness, was taken into custody by law enforcement later that evening.

Rob Reiner was well-known as the director behind many beloved films, including When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal Tap, Misery, and A Few Good Men.
