Robert De Niro Addresses Left-Wing Get Out the Vote Event: 'Keep Your Hands Off Our Vote'

De Niro Critiques Trump’s Voter Roll Cleanup Efforts

Actor Robert De Niro participated in a left-leaning rally in New York this past weekend, where he criticized President Donald Trump’s administration regarding its efforts to tidy up the nation’s voter rolls.

De Niro, alongside fellow actor Mark Ruffalo, showed up at the “Hands Off Our Vote” rally, an event organized by groups such as Indivisible and Hands Off NYC.

During his speech, De Niro expressed strong emotions, shouting phrases like “Keep your hands off our vote!” while making statements he claims refute the actions taken by the Trump administration concerning voter rolls.

He alleged that Trump was attempting to disenfranchise left-leaning voters, indicating, “When that coward, that piece of work Donald Trump tries to take our voice and power away, what do we tell him?” He then returned to his rallying cry of “Keep your fucking hands off our vote!”

“Now with your commitment and support… we’re gonna send him away!” he added with enthusiasm, encouraging the crowd. “Take back the House! Yes! Take back the Senate! Yes! Take back the power! Yes! Take back our country! Yes!”

However, it’s important to highlight that the Trump administration is not actually trying to take votes away from legitimate voters. The focus of their efforts is to maintain accurate voter rolls by eliminating ineligible voters, including those who have passed away or moved out of state. A critical aspect of these efforts is to identify and remove illegal voters and noncitizens from the voter registry.

The U.S. Department of Justice has been active in requesting voter roll data from various states to check for any noncitizens on these lists.

Back in July, the White House suggested that over 250,000 individuals had voted illegally in previous elections, and the DOJ is currently working to address this issue. Recently, the DOJ made arrests of 16 individuals who illegally voted, using false identities to access ballots.
