There’s a new issue at Angel Stadium in Anaheim—one that really isn’t the sort of excitement fans want to see. It turns out they’ve had a rodent infestation.
A recent health inspection revealed that section 432 of the stadium had to be shut down. Apparently, inspectors found less-than-ideal conditions, indicating that something was more than just amiss. It seems some uninvited furry guests made themselves comfortable, and well, the situation isn’t exactly squeaky clean.
Reports from Orange County Public Health indicated that droppings were found in five different spots around the concession area. Shockingly, that’s a larger area than the Angels’ lineup is covering this season.
Also, I mean, a player from the Little League World Series recently commented on Shohei Ohtani, saying he isn’t “very humble” after their match. Talk about throwing shade!
According to an exclusive report, there was also a considerable hole in the ceiling—larger than a quarter inch—which, I guess, might as well have been an open invitation for the critters to roam from the rafters down to the food stalls. Sounds like a scene straight out of a cartoon, right?
The concession stand was closed on April 22 during a game against the Blue Jays when they managed to pull off a 7-3 win. While the Angels were struggling to deal with opposing pitchers, the health department had no trouble halting some operations at the stadium.
Angel Stadium, currently the fourth oldest park in Major League Baseball, seems to be showing its age in all the wrong ways. I mean, the Angels are spending a massive amount on player salaries but can’t seem to keep the rats away from the nachos.
If you’re planning a visit to the Big A soon, maybe think twice about those Upper Deck snacks. Until owner Artie Moreno gets on top of both the ceiling issue and the performance of the team, the only thing certain in Anaheim might just be a strict “No Trespassing” policy.
