During his playing days, he was a standout, winning numerous accolades, including leading the league in rushing during four seasons. So, contemplating his mixed legacy is a bit tricky. Still, the Bills have taken a firm stance on this—no recognition for Simpson in the new stadium.

“We’ve decided he doesn’t fit into our new stadium or our organization,” said Bills Chief Operating Officer Pete Guerri. It’s a bold call, especially when you consider his controversial past.

The question lingers: shouldn’t there be some acknowledgment of his skills on the field? It seems odd that a figure—yes, complicated—like Simpson isn’t even given a nod in a place where he once shone brightly.

So, moving forward, the Bills have chosen not to feature Simpson at all. Perhaps they’re right; society seems to expect a lot from organizations when it comes to who they celebrate. After all, who wants a PR nightmare on their hands, right?
