Rogan claims BBC is 'totally dishonest' about Trump in editing controversy

Podcast host Joe Rogan recently criticized the BBC over the controversy involving a misleadingly edited video of former President Donald Trump. He argues this incident highlights a troubling “deep rot” within mainstream media.

The BBC faced backlash regarding its documentary Panorama, which covered Trump’s speech on January 6, 2021, prior to the Capitol riot. Critics contend that the film misrepresented the situation by omitting Trump’s call for “peaceful” protests and by editing separate statements—made nearly an hour apart—into a single, continuous clip.

Trump has threatened to file a $1 billion lawsuit against the BBC unless these “false, defamatory, derogatory, and inflammatory statements” are retracted. In light of the growing controversy, BBC News CEO Deborah Turness and director-general Tim Davie have resigned in recent days.

Rogan has discussed this issue frequently on his podcast, describing the situation as “not journalism, but complete lies and propaganda,” suggesting it poses a real danger. He believes the media’s handling of the story reflects a loss of journalistic integrity, particularly for an institution like the BBC.

He added, “These individuals seemed to think they could justify a complete lie if it served a greater good. So, they abandoned all principles of journalistic integrity.” To him, the BBC was once a trusted source, much like the Washington Post or the New York Times.

However, he feels things have changed dramatically. Rogan emphasized that the situation exemplifies corporate-controlled media’s corruption, noting that the documentary misrepresented Trump’s remarks and that listeners could see the discrepancies just by hearing the speech in full.

The BBC has yet to respond to inquiries regarding this matter.
