LA Knight’s Challenge Falls Short Against Roman Reigns
It was a pivotal moment for LA Knight as he sought the world title. However, on Saturday night during Money in the Bank, Roman Reigns put an end to Knight’s aspirations of claiming the World Heavyweight Championship. The match took place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, where the audience was fully engaged, cheering wildly throughout.
Fans did seem to support Reigns, chanting and showing their acknowledgement. But as Knight came dangerously close to pinning Reigns, the atmosphere shifted. The crowd rallied for Knight, eager to witness what would have been one of the greatest upsets in his career.
In pursuit of victory, Knight employed every tactic at his disposal. He executed a stunning jumping superplex and locked Reigns in a Burning Hammer, yet victory eluded him. Taking multiple Superman punches without yielding, he demonstrated his resilience. He narrowly avoided a spear, responding with a BFT, and even powerbombed Reigns through the announce table outside the ring.
Despite all his efforts, Knight couldn’t secure the win. Each time he nearly pinned Reigns, I could feel the tension building in my house—it was exhilarating. However, everything changed when Reigns countered with a strike to Knight’s lower region. From that point on, Knight faltered as Reigns delivered two additional Superman punches, culminating in a final spear that sealed the match.
Reigns, clearly unfazed by Knight’s antics, maintained his focus. When Knight attempted to taunt him, Reigns simply kept his composure, executing a strategically slow and measured approach, in stark contrast to his previous title defense a month ago in Mexico City.
With this victory, Reigns reaffirmed his status as WWE’s top superstar, firmly holding his place at the “Head of the Table.” Yet, lurking in the shadows were threats from other contenders.
Immediately following the match, new challengers emerged from the crowd, including Royce Keys, Lucien Price, and Bronco Nima, signaling their intent to confront the champion. The Usos and Solo Sikoa quickly followed suit, leading to chaos as the two factions clashed throughout the arena. Eventually, Jaida Parker arrived in an SUV, helping 946 escape the fray.
While LA Knight’s challenge may be behind Reigns and The Bloodline, a new conflict with the 946 appears imminent.
