Rose Zhang, Andrea Lee dominate Team Europe; USA holds massive lead at 2024 Solheim Cup

Through two days of play at the 2024 Solheim Cup, the U.S. has held a big advantage over European teams, leading 10-6 in Sunday singles.

The pairing of Rose Chan and Andrea Lee is a big reason why.

Of the 28 holes Zhang and Li have played together, they are a combined 20 under par. On Friday afternoon, they beat Lynn Grant and Charlie Hull, 5&4, and on Saturday they dominated again, beating Grant and Celine Boutier, 6&4, in an afternoon four-ball.

“I thought we both played incredible golf today, very consistent,” Lee said after the round.

“Whenever I holed out, Rose was there for me and whenever Rose holed out, I was there for her. We both made a lot of putts and had a lot of fun. It was great having a partner like Rose.”

The two young American stars won the first hole of the day on Saturday and never looked back. Grant and Boutier were no match for Lee and Chang in a dominant performance. They closed out the Europeans on the par-5 14th hole, where Chang made a beautiful eagle-3.

“Overall, we played very well,” Zhang added.

“We encouraged each other, laughed and just had a really good time.”

Neither Lee nor Chan missed a putt Saturday. It seems to have flowed inFor the second day in a row, Grant felt helpless against Lee and Chang. Boutier tried to make things better for his playing partner, but the Frenchman had no answer for the sheer strength of the Americans. There was no stopping this duo on Saturday. They have proven to be captain Stacy Lewis' most successful pairing. They have given the Americans two points and neither has lost a match yet. They are enjoying it.

“It was amazing. I think there was an incredible atmosphere in the team room and on the bus on the way home,” Lee added.

“We did a lot of carpool karaoke and laughed a lot. I think this team is really special. Stacey has done a good job of keeping us together. It's very relaxed and not too serious. She lets us do our own thing. But we also have a lot of fun with each other and I'm so grateful for this team.”
