Rosie O’Donnell revealed that she skipped her daughter’s college graduation due to security fears stemming from her ongoing feud with President Trump.
“My daughter graduated, but I didn’t attend because the security guard advised against it,” the comedian mentioned in a recent interview on the “Unfiltered” podcast.
“I believe Trump would use my presence to rally his supporters,” O’Donnell, 63, added.
She expressed her desire to be seen as his adversary, noting that a significant portion of the population views her this way.
The animosity between O’Donnell and Trump dates back nearly two decades when she publicly criticized him as a “snake oil salesman.” Over the years, Trump has called her “unattractive,” “mentally sick,” and a “loser,” while O’Donnell has labeled him a “criminal man” and “con man.”
O’Donnell relocated to Ireland just days before Trump’s inauguration in January, a move she described as more about protecting herself than anything political.
In recent weeks, Trump has threatened to revoke O’Donnell’s American citizenship, referring to her as a “threat to humanity.”
During her podcast conversation with Kaytlanglock, O’Donnell characterized her move to Ireland as “a significant success.”
She shared that her ties to Ireland run deep through her grandparents, and while she hasn’t renounced her U.S. citizenship, she now also holds Irish citizenship.
O’Donnell expressed her love for her country, stating, “I am very patriotic, but I knew I couldn’t deal with what was ahead.”
She commented on the serious issues plaguing the U.S. and accused Trump of deploying National Guard troops to cities without just cause.
“Trump fears educated, strong women,” O’Donnell remarked.
“Everything he does seems to reflect his insecurities, and I think strong women like me intimidate him,” she said, indicating that this has caused him to unravel.
Interestingly, O’Donnell noted that her feud with Trump might have inadvertently boosted ticket sales for her upcoming performances in Australia.
“I was supposed to perform there in 2013, but it fell through due to lack of ticket sales… I think Trump has, in a way, reignited my fame,” she said with a chuckle.
Her brother humorously pointed out that if Trump knew he had inadvertently helped O’Donnell’s career, it would upset him.
