Rosie O’Donnell Discusses Potential Return to the U.S. Amid Trump Feud
Rosie O’Donnell appeared on the Sacuck Podcast with former CNN anchor Jim Acosta this past Friday, where they talked about her possible return to the United States following her recent conflict with former President Donald Trump.
Acosta posed a question about whether there was a possibility for her return, mentioning how listeners wanted her to ‘come back and fight.’ O’Donnell responded, expressing her emotional state: “My heart is now pounding my heart. I’m trying to regulate myself.”
She emphasized that she didn’t feel it was her “responsibility” to return and engage in the battles emerging from her disagreements with Trump. However, she expressed a commitment to “stand up” for those who might not be able to.
Since relocating to Ireland in March, O’Donnell has been a frequent target of Trump. Recently, he reignited their long-standing feud with a post on Truth Social, threatening to strip her of her citizenship.
In this post, Trump stated, “As mentioned before, we are seriously considering taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship. She’s not a great American and, in my opinion, she can’t do that!”
O’Donnell challenged this threat in her response on the podcast, arguing: “He can’t do that because he’s against the Constitution. Even the Supreme Court hasn’t given him the right to do it…He’s not allowed to do it. The only way you’re allowed to take away someone’s citizenship is for them to waive it themselves, and I’m never going to waive American citizenship. I am a very proud citizen of the United States.”
Trump’s threats to revoke her citizenship have been recurrent since her move, where he once remarked that she was “a threat to humanity” and suggested she should stay in Ireland if she didn’t support American interests.
