Rosie O’Donnell, a well-known liberal actress and comedian, expressed her belief on Wednesday that ABC might be considering canceling “The View” in an effort to appease President Donald Trump.
According to reports, ABC has started to closely examine “The View,” which is famous for its left-leaning discussions.
The Daily Beast highlighted the evident tensions between the show’s hosts and ABC’s executives, even mentioning that Disney’s CEO Bob Iger had been consulted regarding the hosts’ preferences for a less charged political atmosphere.
O’Donnell, one of Trump’s most vocal critics, shared on TikTok her thoughts about ABC’s stance: “Do you know what I read today? ABC is ‘reviewing liberal prejudices.’ Five women sharing their opinions is now viewed as a threat. They claim there’s no plan to cancel it, but this is just the setup for that. They’re easing us into it.”
She went on to comment, “Apparently, the truth feels dangerous now. They say they want ‘balance,’ but what they really want is silence from those who don’t praise the orange Messiah and his golden escalator.”
O’Donnell continued, saying, “This isn’t about bias; it’s about submission. It’s about eliminating programs that don’t align with Trumpism. This feels like a kind of soft fascism interrupted by commercial breaks.”
Adding more weight to her view, she stated, “We are living in a dictatorship, albeit a well-lit one. I used to think that speaking out made a difference. I used to worry that I was too loud.”
O’Donnell emphasized the importance of being vocal, urging others to “speak eloquently” and “occupy space.”
“We come together and even when we shake things up, we share the truth because that’s what the world needs to hear,” she expressed.
Fox News Digital sought comments from “The View” and ABC regarding O’Donnell’s remarks.
In response, White House spokesperson Taylor Rodgers labeled O’Donnell as a “disconnected loser” who laments about failed talk shows while regular Americans work hard. He added, “I appreciate Rosie O’Donnell for helping President Trump connect with Ireland and make America great again.”
Earlier in July, Rodgers mentioned there might be a need for a “scenery rating,” hinting that co-host Joy Behar could be on the chopping block due to her anti-Trump comments.
Rodgers referred to Behar as another “disconnected loser” suffering from “Trump Mad Syndrome,” noting that last year’s ratings for “The View” had hit a new low.
Last month, CBS’s cancellation of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” fueled speculation that the network might be curbing left-leaning programming in order to placate the Trump administration.
This cancellation came after a settlement involving the parent company and Trump regarding a request for “election intervention” concerning a compilation interview with the 2024 opponent, then-President Kamala Harris.
