Rosie O'Donnell Shares That Her Child Thinks Trump Made Them Leave the U.S.: 'Damn Him, Damn Trump'

Rosie O’Donnell Discusses Child’s Reaction to Trump

Rosie O’Donnell shared that her 12-year-old child, who has autism, expressed significant frustration toward President Donald Trump, reportedly hitting the table in anger. O’Donnell believes that the current political climate has negatively impacted families, including her own. “I don’t want my child to be affected like this,” she remarked, emphasizing her child’s condition.

During an appearance on Jim Acosta’s show, O’Donnell recounted, “My daughter is slamming her hand on the table right now saying, ‘Damn, damn, Trump.’” She further explained her daughter’s feelings, saying, “He moved us for our own safety and now he’s trying to destroy the country!”

O’Donnell reflected on her daughter’s awareness of the environment, acknowledging that she talks about these issues but prefers not to burden her child with them. “You don’t want to give this to her,” O’Donnell thought aloud, as she considered the weight of political discourse on her daughter.

She added, “I’ve done this for 22 years. I don’t want my child to have this much of an impact,” reiterating her concerns about the effects of such discussions on her child’s wellbeing.

Acosta noted that her daughter was indeed aware of current events, to which O’Donnell responded with a simple, “Yes.”

In January, O’Donnell left the United States just before Trump’s second inauguration, relocating to Ireland with her child, Clay, who identifies as non-binary.

While she maintains that political discussions don’t happen often outside interviews, O’Donnell has shared numerous videos on her TikTok where she vocalizes her strong opinions about Trump, allegedly from her home.

Social media reactions have varied, with some users criticizing O’Donnell for her views and suggesting that projecting these feelings onto her child is irresponsible. One user remarked on the perceived negativity, stating, “Giving TDS to a vulnerable child is not activism. It is neglect.”

Another commenter suggested that it was ultimately O’Donnell’s choice to leave the U.S., not Trump’s, that should bear the blame for their situation. Other criticisms included claims of poor parenting and accusations of emotional manipulation regarding her daughter’s feelings.

Overall, O’Donnell’s comments sparked a significant amount of discussion, revealing a divide in opinions about the impact of political views on children.
