Rosie Perez, an actress and former host of “The View,” shared her thoughts in a recent podcast, indicating she doubts Kamala Harris will secure a win in the 2024 election. She mentioned her attempts to alert people during the campaign but felt ignored.
On MS NOW’s podcast “The Best People with Nicole Wallace,” Perez discussed her experience campaigning for New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill, suggesting it put him in a tough position. She remarked, “When I was involved in Kamala’s campaign, it wasn’t going well, and I told you that,” referring to Wallace.
Wallace admitted that Perez had previously expressed concerns, but she wasn’t receptive to them then. “Nobody wanted to hear it from me. I remember stating, ‘She’s going to lose,'” Perez reflected.
She noted that her perspective changed after talking to various people, pointing out that regardless of party affiliation—Democrats, independents, or Republicans—everyone seemed to prioritize the economy. “They just wanted change on that front; social issues didn’t matter as much,” Perez said, expressing surprise at this common sentiment across the board.
Perez had participated in Zoom calls with Latino leaders advocating for Harris and commented that, despite her efforts to communicate her concerns, “no one listened.” She mentioned receiving some apologies, though not from all involved.
Before the election, Perez told NPR that a comedian’s remarks at a Trump rally about Puerto Rico could be seen as a “political gift.” Reflecting on her campaigning experience, she described it as a strategy to use advantageous situations presented by opponents.
Recently, Harris has revived the Kamala headquarters social media account from her 2024 campaign, intending it to be a “Gen Z-led progressive content hub.” A video accompanying the relaunch showcased Harris discussing upcoming plans for engagement and outreach.
