Bill de Blasio’s Recent Situation in South Tucson
SOUTH TUCSON, Ariz. — Bill de Blasio seems to have found himself in an unusual situation, staying at a basic motel adorned with “Liberate Palestine” posters in a less-than-ideal area, not far from City Hall.
Mayor Roxanna Valenzuela of South Tucson, whose friends believe she may be “stalking” de Blasio, appears to have made the Arizona Motel her temporary home.
This motel, originally constructed in 1930, was acquired by Casa Maria Soup Kitchen in 2023 as part of an initiative aimed at boosting affordable housing in the region.
Valenzuela, who is 41 years old and works at the soup kitchen, was seen entering the Casa Maria building recently after a friend picked her up from the motel in a white BMW X3.
Sources indicate that this pair, who reportedly had a brief romance, originally met in June at a fundraiser in Arizona.
Months later, officials from Pima County contacted Nomiki Const, a progressive activist who had recently distanced herself from de Blasio, expressing that Valenzuela was seeking a meeting with the former New York mayor to discuss current political affairs.
It’s been suggested that de Blasio later instructed his representative to communicate directly with his then-girlfriend, leading to a somewhat complicated relationship developing between them.
However, it seems their romance may have hit a snag, as reports suggest they are not currently communicating, although Valenzuela hasn’t given up her pursuit of him. One source mentioned, “That’s what she was telling people for days — she felt destined to be with him.”
In a notable turn of events, de Blasio even canceled a planned trip to Puerto Rico for a political retreat, insisting that Valenzuela fly to New York City to see him and “calm her down.”
An individual close to the situation voiced concerns for de Blasio, remarking that friends are worried about his state of mind, particularly since he is still married to Charlaine McCray, the former first lady of New York City.
When approached by the press while arriving at the motel in his Ford Explorer, Valenzuela chose not to comment, stating simply, “Not at this time. I’m with my kids.”
