Meghan Markle recently criticized some royal traditions, calling them “fraud,” but experts have expressed skepticism about her claims.
One royal expert, Kinsey Schofield, found Markle’s comment about pantyhose rather absurd. During an appearance on her YouTube show, Schofield remarked that Markle, who often discusses her experiences, seemed insincere. “This is the same person who spoke glowingly about Spanx and its founder on a podcast,” she noted.
In a video interview shared on Tuesday, Markle mentioned the constraints of royal life, claiming that protocols made her feel somewhat constrained—especially the requirement to wear nude pantyhose. She described it as a ridiculous example but felt it illustrated her desire to express herself authentically.
Markle also reflected on five notable moments from a previous ordeal surrounding Prince Harry. Observers pointed out that she seems to balance this with her current lifestyle, expressing that not everything needs to be justified.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams shared his view with Fox News Digital, labeling Markle’s new lifestyle series as lacking depth. He remarked that it offers little substance, calling it “trivial and cringeworthy.”
Scofield indicated that Markle’s ongoing inconsistencies in her narrative are somewhat concerning. She commented on how, despite Markle’s claims of not having a voice, the royal family significantly contributed to her platform today.
Scofield articulated that if someone continually needs to prove their authenticity, it might suggest they’re less genuine than they portray. Markle’s commentary on royal life, intertwined with her current ventures, raises questions about her motivations.
Additionally, when discussing whether Markle’s statements could affect Prince Harry’s potential reconciliation with the royal family, it was suggested that he isn’t actively pursuing that—especially after expressing discontent over media leaks regarding his family.
Earlier this year, Harry shared his feelings about family and reconciliation, indicating a desire for connection due to uncertainty around his father’s health. Yet he also emphasized that any settlement rests with the royal family, a sentiment he has maintained.
