Secretary of State Marco Rubio said it is dependent on Russia to accept a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine for immediate negotiations towards the end of the war that begins.
Rubio made a statement following a meeting with a senior Ukrainian official in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It helped us to repair Ukrainian relations with us.
The Ukrainians are ready to accept a ceasefire, Rubio said, adding that the US will offer to Russia through multiple diplomatic channels.
“Our hope is that the Russians say yes and they will agree, so we can discuss how to stop the shooting, killings, dying, dying, dying, in a way that is acceptable and lasting for both sides. ”
Russia launched a fierce attack on Ukraine, including a massive drone attack at the Third Annual Commemorative Group on February 24th, and launched cruises and ballistic missiles earlier this week amid a pause in US aid.
Ukraine responds with its biggest drone attack on Russia, with at least 91 drones shooting down Moscow and over 240 targeting other parts of Russia.
BloombergIt has been reportedSources close to Russian President Vladimir Putin signalled that he would be happy to discuss a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine.
President Trump believes Putin wants peace and spoke to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, saying, “I think we're doing very well with Russia.”
