The family of Zigli Caliente, also known as Bianca Castro Arabejo, released a drug star “descending in peace” on Sunday morning, and issued a statement surrounded by family and close friends.
“My bright presence in the world of entertainment and advocacy was celebrated with her infectious energy, intense wit and unwavering credibility,” the statement continued, adding that Castro Arabejo “has been exposed to countless lives” that connects artistry, activism, activity and fans around the world.
The family’s statement added that “Legacy is one of love, courage and light.”
“Her physical presence is gone, but the joy she shared and the space she helped create for so many will remain forever,” the statement read, and Castro Arabejo concluded that “deeply overlooked, always loved, and will remember forever.”
The drug performer’s family had also issued a statement on Thursday just days before his death – revealed that Castro Arabejo’s right leg had been amputated following a “severe infection.”
“Last month, Bianca experienced serious health conditions,” the family said. “She was hospitalized due to a severe infection, resulting in the loss of most of her right leg.”
The family added that for this reason, Castro-Arabejo will not appear in the next season. RuPaul’s Drag Race Philippinesand will not participate “in foreseeable future public engagement” as recovery is “wide-risking.”
