Actor and comedian Russell Brand has reflected on his “amazing” first month as a Christian, explaining that his journey to Christianity involves understanding the concept of repentance and acknowledging inner conflict. Christian Post report.
“I’ve been a Christian for a month now, and it’s made a huge difference,” Brand said in a recent interview. Tick tock “It’s not that I’ve completely changed as a person, I definitely haven’t, but I’ve adopted a lot of new concepts, and I’ve changed to accept that I’m not on a game show and that I can earn redemption by doing really, really good things,” she said in the video.
@Russell Brand It’s been a month since I became a Christian, and already…
“Repenting means recognizing that I am constantly changing, that I am ‘at war with myself,’ that I need to surrender to Jesus who is ever-present, inner and accessible, that mercy is something given to me, something I live through love, not something I can win or achieve by doing good works,” he said.
The presenter spoke of how his faith has brought “wonderful” people and literature into his life, giving him peace and direction.
“When I feel lost, I feel like the instructions are there and available. I feel like I know what I should be doing, and when I’m not doing what I should be doing, it becomes even more clear,” he explained. “When I feel like I’ve been selfish, or uncaring, or not putting myself first, or thinking about how to best serve others, it’s like I’m having a revelation within me right now.”
Brand spoke of his appreciation for Christian doctrine, particularly the story that God came to earth in human form and gave his life to save mankind.
“I love the simple idea of God coming to earth as a man, experiencing what it means to be human, sacrificing himself, because it’s the only sacrifice that can bring us home and give us a chance at salvation,” he said. “As I pray alone and receive Holy Communion, I love the idea that there is a Being who is with me, wounded and crowned. There is strength in my failures, my mistakes and my errors.”
Brand stressed that his journey has only just begun and expressed excitement about continuing to grow in his faith.
“It’s been an amazing journey,” he said. “I’m just getting started. I’m just continuing to learn. There’s so much more to learn. I’m so excited to learn more from you all and learn together.”
As Crosswalk Headlines previously reported, Bland was baptized in April as part of a months-long journey to learn about the Christian faith. Earlier this month, he received his First Holy Communion.
