Russell Wilson states it's time to go silent in vague reply to criticism

Russell Wilson’s Mysterious Comeback

Russell Wilson is once again stirring the pot.

After receiving some feedback from Dan “Big Cat” Katz at Barstool, who made comparisons between Jalen Hurts and Wilson, the backup quarterback for the Giants took to X on Wednesday to respond.

“Oh…I have to go back to Ballin’ and Being Me. Back to the first ten. It’s time. Time to go dark,” Wilson tweeted.

Katz expressed his opinions on Tuesday during “Wake Up Barstool,” particularly following the Eagles’ 22-19 loss to the Chargers, where Hurts threw four interceptions, including a crucial one in overtime that led to the defeat.

Wilson responded to a user’s post that quoted Katz, declaring, “Russell Wilson from 2017-2020 would be the best QB in the NFL if he played today.” It seems that he’s feeling nostalgic about his peak performance years.

“Jalen Hurts is really Russell Wilson 2.0,” Katz argued. He remarked on Hurts’ skills and raised concerns about needing a solid defense, noting that as he progresses in his career, opinions on him might shift, with comments about him becoming “weird.”

“It’s going to be interesting to see where this goes. Russell’s career path looks somewhat similar to Hurts’. They’re investing heavily in him, but will that translate into wins? Maybe, maybe not,” he added.

Co-host Nick Thulani chimed in, speculating whether winning the Super Bowl might be a double-edged sword for both quarterbacks.

Wilson has been at the helm for Seattle since 2012, making two Super Bowl appearances and clinching a title with the Broncos back in February 2014.

After a disappointing 7-10 season in 2021, he found himself traded to the Broncos.

During his time in Denver, Wilson had a couple of lackluster seasons and butted heads with coach Sean Payton in 2023, eventually leading to him being benched and released.

Last year, he found some success with the Steelers, helping them get to the playoffs, and landed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Giants this offseason.

Currently, Wilson is serving as an emergency third-string QB behind rookie Jackson Dart and veteran Jameis Winston, marking his first bench time in three games.

Hurts, similarly, has one Super Bowl on his record after leading the Eagles past the Chiefs last year, thwarting their hopes for a third consecutive title. Yet this season, the Eagles haven’t seemed to find their rhythm.

They kicked off the season impressively at 6-2 but have faltered recently, facing losses that have left the offense struggling. Hurts’ mobility, which has been an asset, seems restrained lately, and when he does decide to run, there’s a noticeable hesitance.

On top of that, he faced some challenges with his star receiver, AJ Brown, who was vocal in his frustration about the team’s performance at one point.

Despite these issues, the Eagles still sit atop the NFC East with an 8-5 record, closely followed by the Cowboys at 6-6-1, who have won three out of their last four games.
