Russian missile attack hits Ukraine children's hospital

Russia launched a series of missile attacks on Ukrainian targets on Monday, killing at least 28 people in a barrage that hit an apartment building and a children’s hospital.

More than 100 people were injured in the attack, according to a Telegram post by Ukrainian Interior Ministry Director General Igor Klimenko.

Klimenko said Russia had targeted 50 civilian facilities in attacks that killed 11 people in the Dnipropetrovsk region and 17 in the capital, Kiev.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Post to X He said the attack came on Okhmatdito Children’s Hospital, which has helped thousands of children.

“The Russian attack damaged hospitals, people are under rubble and the exact number of casualties is still unknown,” Zelensky wrote. “Russia cannot claim it did not know where the missiles were flying and must take full responsibility for all the crimes it has committed.”

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russia had fired around 38 missiles at the country, around 30 of which were shot down by Ukrainian defenses.

Last month, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov, Russia’s top commander in the Ukraine war, over Russian operations targeting Ukrainian infrastructure.

The ICC accused them of being responsible for Russian attacks on civilian facilities and Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
