Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has been under considerable pressure this past season. The criticism of the day escalated after the Buckeyes failed to defeat their top rival, Michigan Wolverine, in late November.
Day ultimately sent a suspicious message as he led Ohio State to the College Football Playoffs National Championship. When it recently appeared on the “The Triple Option” podcast, Day confirmed to Navy Seals that he provided some motivation to the Buckeyes while running for a national title.

Previously playing in the NFL and former Navy seal, Clint Bruce shared through words of wisdom about football teams and leadership.
“He was really good to me as he understood what it means to be a leader.” The day said. “The soldiers are fighting all the battles. It's your job as a head coach, leader and captain to look along the horizon and understand what's coming next. Between the military and coaching. There are so many similarities. He and I share a lot of conversation.'

Bruce graduated from the Naval Academy and worked in the league with the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints. He is now a motivating speaker. He gave the Buckeyes a “incredible talk” before his playoff semi-final game against the Texas Longhorns in January.

“We played in Dallas, and just by chance the fort he was stationed in was about five minutes from our hotel,” Day said. “He just came and gave an incredible talk to our team. He said that when seals go to hot spots in Afghanistan or elsewhere, they set up shops and spend a few days on the area. Regulated in, then they create. Storm, that was what we were doing. As much as possible.”

Day praised the Bruce for his contribution to the program's culture, but said players should receive a large portion of the credits for what they have built.
“The predictions are from players. We'll create a leadership committee that votes before the spring ball and re-vote after the spring ball. We'll write our expectations on the board,” he said.

This month, Day was rewarded with a contract extension that linked him to the football program throughout the 2031 season. Day will also become the second-highest paying coach in college football, simply tracking Georgia's Kirby Smart.
